Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw by Brentford in the Premier League at the Gtech Community Stadium on Thursday evening.
Chances were few and far between until the 23rd minute, when David Raya made a brilliant save to keep out Igor Thiago’s effort.
Two minutes before the break, Thiago dropped deep to slip Dango Ouattara through, but Raya quickly came off his line to clear the danger.
Only four shots were recorded in the first half, the second fewest in a league game this season, after Wolverhampton Wanderers versus Brentford.
The Gunners turned on the screws after the restart and broke the deadlock in the 61st minute.
Piero Hincapie whipped a cross to the far post for Noni Madueke, who climbed above Rico Henry to plant his header past Caoimhin Kelleher.
Keane Lewis-Potter missed a chance to restore parity in the 65th minute, heading Mathias Jensen’s corner wide.
The English midfielder made amends in the 71st minute, as Sepp van den Berg flicked the ball towards him to head in at the far post, drawing Brentford level.
There were chances for both sides to win late on, with Igor Thiago firing over the bar before Kelleher made a good save to deny Gabriel Martinelli.
Despite the result, Arsenal still sit four points clear of second-placed Manchester City, who beat Fulham on Wednesday.
Brentford remain seventh, occupying the last European qualification spot.
