According to a report by La Provence, Premier League side Arsenal are interested in Olympique de Marseille forward Elye Wahi (22). The Gunners have reportedly added Wahi’s name to a list of target strikers following the injury of Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus.
The Premier League side were reportedly impressed by the Frenchman’s performance against them in the UEFA Champions League last season. This was when Wahi was playing in the colours of RC Lens and scored in the two-legged affair in the Group Stage at Stade Boellart. This was before he joined Les Olympiens this summer for a fee of €25m plus add ons.Arsenal would have to face competition from fellow Premier League side West Ham United, who recently made contact with OM as they wished to sign the France U21 international on loan with a near-mandatory €25m option. According to L’Équipe the Hammers made contact with Marseille in the context of Niclas Füllkrug’s injury and the ongoing unavailability of Michel Antonio. The former Lens and Montpellier striker has had struggles adapting to life at the Vélodrome, recently being one-upped by Neal Maupay as the starting forward in De Zerbi’s starting eleven.
