Even though Real Madrid do not have a lot of youngsters making successful transition to the first-team setup from the academy, there is no denying the abundance of talent coming through the ranks at La Fabrica.
Raul Asencio has successfully broken through this season while youngsters like Jesus Fortea, Lorenzo Aguado, Diego Aguado, Chema Andres, among others are knocking on the doors.
Another young talent who is tipped for a bright future within the club is Victor Valdepenas. The 18-year-old centre-back has already been called up to the first-team matchday squad by Carlo Ancelotti this season.
Now, it appears that Valdepenas’ potential has not gone unnoticed as a big Premier League club has set its sights on the youngster.
Indeed, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Arsenal have added Victor Valdepenas to their shortlist as a potential transfer target for the future and are closely monitoring him.
The 18-year-old Real Madrid ace is a centre-back capable of playing at left-back as well.
Having been a part of Alvaro Arbeloa’s Juvenil A setup at the start of the season, Valdepenas made his Real Madrid C as well as Castilla debuts and is under Raul Gonzalez currently.
As already mentioned, the Spaniard is rated very highly within Real Madrid and has trained with the senior team while being in the squad for the La Liga game against Villarreal in March earlier this year.
The Merengues even tied down the youngster to a long-term contract until 2029 back in October last year.
As such, it is unlikely that Real Madrid will let the 18-year-old go if Arsenal follow up on their interest with a formal offer. Even more so considering that Xabi Alonso is set to take over as the manager and is familiar with the talents coming through the academy.
