Arsenal Target’s Fee Slashed in Major Boost to Summer Move

For many, if Rodrygo were wise, he would have already been pushing for a Real Madrid exit.

With fierce competition for places and no guaranteed game time, the Brazilian winger is at risk of being wasted at Los Blancos.

While it is believed Madrid would entertain offers for his services, none have arrived. Their demand of as much as €100 million for Rodrygo is wildly ambitious, a figure most of his suitors are simply not willing to pay.

So, do the La Liga giants still hope to sell him for such inflated figures?

Rodrygo’s Price May Not Be as High as First Thought

Transfer guru Ben Jacobs argues not, noting:

“Some people at Real hint this €90 million (£78.5m) number is not actually as rigid as was first implied at the beginning of the window, and maybe somewhere closer to €70 million (£61.1m) might even get him out the door. That’s actually an excellent bit of business, I think, and offsets some of the cost affiliated to the player wage and the agent fees. So let’s kind of wait and see how it develops.”

Arsenal Given Fresh Encouragement in Rodrygo Pursuit

Arsenal, having been heavily linked with Rodrygo’s services, should find such updates encouraging. It should have them thinking: maybe this can be done. However, the most recent reports suggest the player has opted to stay put at Real Madrid.

Being a World Cup year, Rodrygo would surely want to be playing week in, week out. By now, he should have realised he is not blessed with many options in terms of where he could realistically go.

He wants to play in his favourite position: left wing. With Arsenal’s left flank up for grabs, surely there is little left to consider.

The Gunners desperately need a left winger. Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have failed to impress, and there are question marks over Noni Madueke’s suitability on the left flank.

Failing to address such a clear area of concern, especially with updates like this potential price drop, would be a big gamble.

I think we’ll be talking about Rodrygo right up until the transfer window closes.

What are your thoughts on this drawn-out transfer saga?
