Arsenal make the trip to Newcastle United on Saturday lunchtime in a huge Premier League game at St James’ Park.
Both sides will aim to bounce back from recent league results and improve their hopes of competing at the top end of the table. Arsenal have navigated numerous absences in recent weeks, with Mikel Areta’s defensive options stretched due to injuries.
The Gunners have not kept a clean sheet in their last five Premier League games, a contrast to last season’s brilliant defensive form.
Arteta’s side and Newcastle each progressed into the Carabao Cup quarter-finals in midweek and will want to take that momentum into their Premier League performances.
Arsenal will again be without the services of Martin Odegaard who is not expected to return until after November’s international break. Arteta has also confirmed that Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kieran Tierny and Riccardo Calafiori will miss the trip to Newcastle this weekend.
There is better news on Gabriel Magalhaes, who limped off during the 2-2 draw with Liverpool last week. The Brazil international’s injury is not serious, though he remains a doubt for the weekend. He will be assessed before a decision is made. Ben White is another who will face a fitness test before the clash with the Magpies.
William Saliba is available to return after he served a one-game suspension against Liverpool.
Arsenal predicted XI: Raya; White, Saliba, Kiwior, Timber; Rice, Partey; Saka, Trossard, Martinelli; Havertz.
Newcastle host Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday 2nd November, 2024. Kick-off at St James’ Park is 12:30pm BST.
The game will be shown live on TNT Sports 1 from 11am.
