Arsenal face another defensive setback with Cristhian Mosquera (21) expected to miss at least six weeks after suffering an ankle injury in the 2-0 win over Brentford, according to reports from BBC Sport.
The 21-year-old landed awkwardly shortly before half-time and was forced off, making only his fourth Premier League start since joining from Valencia in the summer. Early indications suggest he could be out for up to two months, though the club are awaiting further tests to confirm the full extent of the damage.
Mosquera’s injury adds to an already crowded treatment room. First-choice centre-backs William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes are both sidelined, leaving Mikel Arteta short of options as Arsenal look to maintain momentum at the top of the Premier League and in their Champions League group.
Arteta described Mosquera’s situation as “more complicated” than first feared but offered a small boost by confirming Saliba is only “days” away from returning after a training-ground knock. Gabriel, however, may not be back until January following a thigh injury.
With Mosquera and Piero Hincapié stepping in recently, Saliba’s impending return now feels crucial as Arsenal prepare for a difficult run of fixtures. The Gunners travel to third-placed Aston Villa on Saturday before heading to Club Brugge in the Champions League next week.
