Arturo Ruiz’s Real Sociedad to face Lyon in pre-season friendly on eight August | OneFootball

Real Sociedad, led by Arturo Ruiz, will face Olympique Lyon in a high-level pre-season friendly on eight August at 11.00. Lyon are eight-time UEFA Women’s Champions League winners and lost last season’s final to Barcelona.

Pre-season starts on Tuesday 14 July, and the Lyon date is the first of several warm-ups for a campaign fuelled by European ambitions. The club said in a statement that Lyon are a global reference in the women’s game, 19-time French champions, and are entering a new phase after a recent identity change.

Lyon’s squad features stars Wendie Renard, Selma Bacha and Ingrid Engen. They are also exploring a move for Barcelona winger Salma Paralluelo.

For La Real, the fixture is billed as the final tune-up before the Women’s Champions League first-leg qualifier on 26 August.

Ruiz’s side will return to Zubieta with a reshaped group after the arrivals of defender Esther Laborde, Ainhoa Marín, Laura Camino and Ainoa Campo. Deals for Sonya Keefe and Ava Seelenfreund are described as advanced and await official confirmation.
