Amadou Onana is a doubt after the midfielder was forced off in the first half against Arsenal with a thigh issue. Diego Carlos is suspended but wasn’t expected to feature irrespective of the ban as he is close to leaving the club. Pau Torres and Ross Barkley are not projected to return for weeks but John McGinn has stepped up his recovery as he has rejoined training.

Monaco sit three points outside of automatic qualification for the last 16 with two games remaining. The Ligue 1 outfit will be without former Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun, who is nursing a shoulder injury. Denis Zakaria and Wilfried Singo missed the weekend’s action and will be assessed ahead of tonight’s game.

Form

Monaco: WLDDL

Adolf Hutter’s side have endured a wretched period which has seen their chances of silverware diminish. Monaco sit in fourth place in Ligue 1 but are 15 points adrift of league leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

They lost 1-0 in the French Super Cup – with PSG’s Ousmane Dembele scoring the winner in the dying embers over a fortnight ago. Monaco were also dumped out of the Coupe de France last week as they were beaten on penalties by Reims. Aside from a routine Coupe de France win against sixth tier opposition a month ago, the French outfit have claimed victory once in 10 outings.

The commenced their European exploits impressively with 10 points collected from their first four games. But that promising start has fizzled out as defeats to Benfica and Arsenal have followed.

Aston Villa: DWWWD

Villa avoided defeat for the fifth successive game on Saturday as they staged a comeback away to Arsenal. The Gunners took a two-goal lead before Youri Tielemans’ brave header and Ollie Watkins’ instinctual finish levelled matters in North London.

Unai Emery’s side are chasing another season of European football and are only two points off fifth place in the Premier League.

Their first Champions League campaign in over 40 years has gone exceedingly well with Villa in a very strong position to qualify. They have won four and only lost once in six games including monumental victories over RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich.
