After establishing their interest in Marcus Rashford, Como have begun ‘working on’ a move for lesser-favoured defender Tyrell Malacia.
That’s according to Alfredo Pedulla, who claims the Italian outfit are hoping to strike up a deal to grant manager Cesc Fabregas his desired transfer target.
Manchester United fans will already be aware that Como boast some Red Devils links in the form of ex-player Raphael Varane being a board member.
He completed a free transfer to the club after his release last summer but was only able to feature for 23 minutes in the Coppa Italia before sustaining a serious knee injury, after which he decided to pull the curtains on his illustrious career due to his unrelenting fitness setbacks.
Como had initially begun sizing up a move for outcast Rashford amidst his desire for a new challenge away from his boyhood side. However, Fabrizio Romano has since downplayed the links, instead confirming that the forward had held talks with AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus.

As for Malacia, it remains to be seen if a move could come to fruition in the coming weeks.
He has featured four times under Ruben Amorim for a total of 196 minutes on the pitch. His lack of action may be due to the fact he missed the entirety of the 2023/2024 term through injury, although the Dutch international hasn’t played since the 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth on December 22 – despite being fully fit.
Luke Shaw’s continued absences mean Malacia is the only natural left-back at Amorim’s disposal, but he has preferred to utilise Diogo Dalot in the role wing-back role with Noussair Mazraoui on the right.
The 24-year-old was Erik ten Hag’s first-ever signing at Old Trafford after he completed a £14.7 million switch from Feyenoord in July 2022. He is tied to United until 2026, plus the option of an additional year.
