Aston Villa are currently in talks with Porto for the signing of Spanish striker Samu Aghehowa, according to Estadio Deportivo.
Aghehowa joined Porto from Atletico Madrid in 2024 and hit the ground running, bagging 27 goals and three assists in 45 appearances last season.
Porto recently secured full ownership of the forward’s economic rights by paying a total of around €32 million to Atletico, giving them greater control over any potential sale.
Aghehowa’s release clause is €100m, but Porto may be willing to negotiate a deal for around €60m.
Having been previously courted by Chelsea, Aghehowa is the subject of Premier League interest once again, with Villa the latest club to line up a swoop.
Villa’s first-choice striker Ollie Watkins has been linked with Manchester United, although they are prioritising a move for Benjamin Sesko.
After selling Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr earlier this year and opting against a permanent deal for Marcus Rashford, Villa are light up front.
They have been relatively quiet in the transfer market. Despite this, the Villans are unwilling to part ways with Morgan Rogers, whose sale could provide some leeway to do business.
With five years left on his contract, Villa are set to offer Rogers a new contract, signalling their strong desire to keep him.
