Aston Villa ‘submit’ nine million euro bid for Emerson Royal | OneFootball

Aston Villa have lodged an opening offer for Flamengo right-back Emerson Royal, worth nine million euros (R$ 53.29 million). The proposal is being assessed by Flamengo’s football department.

ESPN first reported the bid, which ge later confirmed. Flamengo should respond soon.

Inside the club, Royal is well regarded and viewed as important after an upturn in recent months. He was heavily criticised by fans last season, but Leonardo Jardim has used him regularly and been pleased. Any departure is therefore not seen as straightforward.

Flamengo are also weighing the need for another sale to help balance finances and increase investment capacity. Selling the right-back would require an immediate replacement.

Royal has made 40 appearances for Flamengo, with one goal and five assists. He was signed last year from Milan in a deal that reached R$ 78.8 million, and his contract runs until 2028.
