Paris Saint-Germain are said to be eyeing Aston Villa forward Jhon Durán as they look to strengthen their attack with a promising long-term option.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has pointed out PSG’s interest in the Colombian striker, but he also mentioned a key challenge: Aston Villa’s £80 million asking price. This valuation comes after Durán’s strong performances and his recent contract extension.

Aston Villa appear set on keeping Durán unless a huge offer comes their way, while PSG reportedly rate him at around £55 million, leaving a sizable gap in negotiations. Other clubs are reportedly monitoring the situation as well.

Jacobs also revealed that Villa recently turned down a £57 million bid from West Ham, marking the second time this window the Premier League side has made an offer. Villa are said to be holding out for a deal closer to £85 million (€100 million).

Could Aston Villa be willing to sell Jhon Durán?

A former club executive believes Durán has been swayed by interest from top European clubs like PSG and Real Madrid. He also suggests that the behind-the-scenes issues at Aston Villa could lead to the club letting him go for the right price.

“I think his head has been turned by the interest in him,” former Man United and Blackburn scout Mick Brown told Football Insider. “He was left out of the team again when they played West Ham. I’m told he’s a bit of a difficult character and disruptive influence behind the scenes.

“Emery might see that and think, if they have a chance to get a fee that works for the club, they would be willing to let him go elsewhere. If they can get good money for him, I think it’ll happen.

“When you’ve got teams like Real Madrid and PSG sniffing around, I think that’s always a distraction. But when you take into account the issues we’ve spoken about before in terms of what he’s like on the training ground, I expect he’s considering moving on.

“It will need to be a deal that’s right for Villa, of course, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see him go.”

TEAMtalk reported on Tuesday, citing sources, that manager Enzo Maresca has informed the Chelsea board of his desire to sign a new striker before the January transfer window closes, with Durán emerging as a key target.
