Aston Villa’s efforts to sign a defender before tonight’s 11pm deadline have ‘gone very quiet’, according to Sky Sports News.
The Villans have already signed three players this month with Donyell Malen arriving from Borussia Dortmund, Andres Garcia signing from Levante and Marcus Rashford being loaned from Manchester United.
A move for a central defender also looked to be on the cards with names emerging as possible targets.
Chelsea defender Axel Disasi is someone Aston Villa would like to sign, while Juan Foyth is popular with Unai Emery.
Now though it appears that the club might not eventually manage to make a signing in that position.
Things have ‘gone very quiet’ on the defender front at Villa Park.
With now four hours remaining before the window closes, Villa will have to be working quickly behind the scenes if there is to be any time for that situation to change.
The club earned £71m from the sale of striker Jhon Duran to Saudi side Al-Nassr but rejected a reported £60m offer from Arsenal for Ollie Watkins.
