Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata responds to fan on Instagram about imminent AC Milan move | OneFootball

Atletico Madrid forward Alvaro Morata led the celebrations as Spain brought home the Euro 2024 trophy to Madrid on Monday, but he could be leaving the city before the end of the week. He is reportedly on the verge of a move to AC Milan.

Morata, 31, has openly spoken about the criticism from fans and press in recent months, stating that ‘nobody respects anyone in Spain’, explaining that he has suffered at the hands of it. Milan intend to activate his €15m release clause in the coming 48 hours, while Morata has given the green light to a deal.

On Instagram, a fan replied to a post about him winning the Euros while at Atletico, saying ‘Fine, lots of flag-waving for Atleti, but then he’s leaving.’ Morata responded to this post saying ‘Now I can’t go, and after Dortmund you all wanted me gone’

Morata is referring to their Champions League quarter-final against Borussia Dortmund, in which Morata missed a key chance and then was taken off at half-time by Diego Simeone. The Argentine coach also ended up dropping Morata for the final run of the season too, instead favouring Angel Correa, but they had expected him to stay after stepping away from a move to Saudi Arabia.
