La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have early this week reached a transfer agreement with their counterparts at Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur.
This comes amid confirmation that Conor Gallagher is primed for a return to his home country this month.
Midfielder Gallagher has for his part been hotly tipped for an Atlético Madrid exit for some time now.
After failing to see any such move come to fruition over the summer, the former Chelsea man has in turn found himself in and out of Diego Simeone’s XI in Spain’s capital across the season to date.
With the transfer market now back in full swing, a number of clubs have returned to the table, though, keen to find an agreement with the Metropolitano brass.
And as alluded to above, on Monday, one such suitor appear to have beaten out the competition to strike an agreement.
As per a report from market insider Fabrizio Romano:
‘Conor Gallagher to Tottenham, here we go! The player has just informed Atléti about his decision to join Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs set to pay €40m fee, permanent deal to beat Aston Villa.’
