Atlético Madrid star’s agent drops Barcelona hint | OneFootball

The representative of Atlético Madrid star Julián Alvarez has this week hinted that his client would be interested in a potential move to La Liga rivals Barcelona.

This, of course, comes amid mounting speculation that the Blaugrana have earmarked the Argentine as a leading future transfer target.

Ahead of the expiration of Robert Lewandowski’s contract in the summer of 2026, Deco and co. have already kicked into gear a search for the Pole’s long-term replacement.

And according to several sources, at the very top of the wishlist at the Camp Nou is the aforementioned Alvarez.

Speaking during an exchange with the media this week, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his client’s Barcelona links were put to the talented attacker’s agent.

And Fernando Hidalgo’s response, provided to El Chiringuito TV and relaid by Goal, has since turned heads.

This comes with Hidalgo having made no effort to play the speculation down, in responding:

“The day-to-day is at Atlético. We will see how the negotiation goes. Football changes quickly. There will need to be talks between the clubs, and a deal will have to be made.”

Alvarez’s representative continued:

“He has always followed Leo Messi’s career, and I don’t think many Argentines grow up without a strong feeling for Barça. Julian is very grateful to many Barça players who have spoken highly of him. That motivates him a lot.”
