Aurélien Tchouaméni to miss Real Madrid’s Bayern quarter-final return | OneFootball

Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni will miss next Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg at the Allianz Arena after being booked in Tuesday’s 1-2 defeat to Bayern Munich.

He was cautioned for a 36th-minute foul on his France team-mate Michael Olise. According to L'Équipe, six Madrid players risked a ban with another yellow, Jude Bellingham, Alvaro Carreras, Dean Huijsen, Kylian Mbappé, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Vinicius, but only Tchouaméni is suspended.

Real coach Alvaro Arbeloa said it was a significant loss and added he did not understand the booking, though he insisted the squad have players capable of covering the role.

Tchouaméni has already missed three La Liga matches this season. At that time Xabi Alonso moved from a midfield three to a two, pairing Eduardo Camavinga with Arda Güler against Rayo Vallecano, then Dani Ceballos with Güler versus Elche in November, those games finishing 0-0 and 2-2.

Under Arbeloa, he has been absent only once, on 24 January at Villarreal, a 2-0 win. In a 4-3-3, Camavinga operated as the holding midfielder with Güler and Jude Bellingham, while Federico Valverde started in midfield on Tuesday, Bellingham has recently returned, and 18-year-old Thiago Pitarch also began the first leg.
