Heaven is currently on scholarship terms at Arsenal and those are due to expire at the end of this season.

The 18-year-old, who went on Arsenal’s pre-season tour to the US last summer, made his senior debut for the Gunners in October during a Carabao Cup win at Preston.

Heaven has regularly trained with the first team and Arsenal are keen for him to stay so have offered him a professional contract.

United have been given permission to speak to Heaven and he was at Old Trafford on Thursday night to see the club’s victory over Rangers.

Further talks are expected to take place on Friday as the 18-year-old weighs up his options.

Heaven is also the subject of strong interest from German side Eintracht Frankfurt and he went to visit them earlier this month.

“We spoke to Arsenal [and we try to sign him,” Eintracht Frankfurt CEO Markus Krosche told ESPN earlier this month. “He’s a really good prospect and we’ll see if we can find a solution with him.”

Heaven was part of the same scholarship group at Arsenal as Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, representing England at Under-19 level alongside them.

He began his youth career at West Ham, joining them at the age of eight and spending four years there. He was let go at the age of 12 and spent a few months with Chelsea on trial.

Heaven was part of the Arsenal squad that travelled to Porto last season in the Champions League, while he has also been on the bench for games against Manchester United and Tottenham.

Asked about the prospect of Heaven, Arteta said on Friday morning: “You know I cannot talk about anything that is individual and this is not my duty.”
