Back at Brighton after a short loan at Marseille, Matt O'Riley has called the stint a unique experience.
"I am really happy to have experienced it. Playing under such pressure was very beneficial mentally. It is a ruthless environment. I really enjoyed certain aspects," he told the BBC.
"I feel I have come back more mature and more stable, which was my goal," said O'Riley, 25, who made 18 appearances for Marseille and played two Premier League matches for Brighton earlier in the season. The Denmark international has six caps.
"I want to bring positive energy to the team and I think I can do that after spending six months in the sun."
Unable to be loaned elsewhere for the rest of the season, he rejoined Brighton's squad in early February. The Seagulls sit 14th in the Premier League. He said he had kept watching their matches and that it "felt like coming home".
