“We’re very confident,” insisted Hansi Flick in his pre-match press conference as his Barcelona side prepare to face FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

The final round of League Phase games will see all 36 teams kick off concurrently at 20:00 GMT, with clubs needing to keep track of how their progression could be affected by results elsewhere.

Barcelona have already qualified for the playoffs – but they could bypass a potentially tricky tie by finishing in the top eight.

“We focus on what’s in our hands”

The Blaugrana sit top of the LaLiga table – but it’s not quite as pretty of a picture in the UEFA Champions League, where Hansi Flick’s men aren’t in complete control of their destiny.

Barcelona have accumulated 13 points from their 7 Champions League fixtures so far this season, and while a golejada at the Spotify Camp Nou would certainly boost their chances of a berth in the top eight, they are likely to be affected by results elsewhere.

“We focus on ourselves and on what’s in our hands,” Flick explained ahead of “a tough game against Copenhagen.

“We are confident in our style, in how we play, and that’s the Champions League. We have to show our best level.”

Barça “have to manage the game in the best way possible”

Asked about the need for a hefty scoreline on Wednesday, Flick explained that Barça must “manage the game in the best way possible.

“We have a good squad, also on the bench, and we have to play like a team. The game is very important for us, and we have to show that. That’s what I want to see.”

Still, he insisted that “we have to go step by step.”

“We have to play this match respecting Copenhagen because they have a fantastic team. We’ll have to defend very well, try and keep them from scoring, and score goals to win.”
