Barcelona 15-year-old prodigy called up for UEFA Youth League game vs Newcastle | OneFootball

It has been common practice for many years for FC Barcelona’s first team and Juvenil A side to travel together on the same charter flight to play their respective UEFA Champions League and UEFA Youth League matches.

In the first stage of both the senior and youth competitions, UEFA aligns the schedules and groups so that clubs can save costs and include both teams in one trip.

As such, on Barcelona’s flight today to Newcastle, there were 23 senior players called up by Hansi Flick, along with the 20 youth prospects called up by Pol Planas.

15-year-old Ebrima Tunkara called up

Amongst all of them happens to be a 15-year-old La Masia gem named Ebrima Tunkara – the youngest on the expedition to Newcastle United.

And, according to SPORT, the teenage wonderkid could make his Youth League debut against Newcastle United’s U-19 setup tomorrow.

Born in 2010, Ebrima is a player who has been tipped for the brightest future by those at and around La Masia.

At the club since the 2018/19 season, recruited by Albert Puig, he was recognised from the beginning as something special.

Ebrima is making a difference thanks to a combination of imposing physical structure and technical ability that makes him a dominant player.

Now, having made his Juvenil A debut recently, Tunkara has been called up to the Youth League squad, and the 15-year-old has a chance to play in the continental competition against opponents mostly three years older than him.

Pol Planas and the La Masia coaches are taking care to manage and monitor his development. Nobody wants to rush things, and everyone is aware of the importance of taking each step carefully.

What is clear, however, is that Ebrima is a special and unique talent and can make it big at the club.
