Barcelona academy talent trains with first-team ahead of Celta Vigo | OneFootball

A highly-regarded member of the Barcelona reserve team setup was spotted in training alongside Hansi Flick’s first-team squad on Tuesday.

The player in question? Álvaro Cortés.

Cortés, for those not familiar with his name, is a 19-year-old central defender.

The stopper, an international with Spain at youth level, has played a starring role for Albert Sánchez’s Barca Atlètic across the early months of the new campaign.

And his efforts, evidently, have begun to pique the attentions of the Blaugrana’s first-team staff.

In turn, on Tuesday, Cortés was called up to the senior setup in Catalunya’s capital, afforded the chance to prove his talents alongside Hansi Flick’s star-studded ranks.

Barcelona are set to mark their return to action on the back of the international break this Saturday, in a La Liga meeting with Celta Vigo at Balaídos.

It now remains to be seen whether or not Cortés has done enough to earn for himself a place in the matchday setup in Vigo.
