In recent years, Barcelona and Real Madrid have walked side by side on a lot of occasions, with the two clubs establishing a period of institutional truce.
That was due to their shared goal and vision for the European Super League project. But in light of Barcelona’s recent attempts to move away from ESL and closer to UEFA, it appears the masks are off between the two entities, reports Diario AS.
As per the report, the long-maintained institutional truce between Barcelona and Real Madrid has definitively fractured.
This has culminated in a series of scathing attacks from Real Madrid President Florentino Perez that confirm the end of their period of shared interests.
The split gained momentum after the initial ‘Negreira Case’ revelation, when Perez publicly announced Real Madrid would pursue legal action against the alleged refereeing corruption- a move poorly received by the Catalan club.

Perez’s speech at the recent General Assembly ratified the new reality, as he aggressively criticised Barcelona’s institutional allies, including UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin and LaLiga President Javier Tebas. He also pulled up Barcelona about the Negreira case.
Laporta’s friends are not among Florentino Perez’s favourites. Ceferin and Tebas, that is, UEFA and LaLiga, are among Real Madrid’s public enemies.
The tone of the Real Madrid president’s speech reveals that the club’s position is one of owing nothing to anyone, of not depending on any institution, and of achieving total and absolute independence.
The animosity was visible even in the latest Clasico, confirming to the fanbase that the shared interest era is over. The last Clasico served to demonstrate that the laughter and good times are a thing of the past.
