But the player also shared his thoughts on other hot topics, including Real Madrid’s recent complaint against the refereeing body and the upcoming Madrid derby.

Ronald Araujo on Real Madrid statement and Madrid derby

There is much controversy going on in Spanish football surrounding Real Madrid and their open war against the refereeing body.

The club have launched a formal complaint against the referees after the Espanyol defeat and have openly called for reformation in the system.

When asked about Real Madrid’s statement, Araujo said (h/t Mundo Deportivo), “I honestly hadn’t seen it, but they told me that they would probably ask me about it.

“We are focused on our own thing. Today, what matters is Relats Solidaris, everything that we are doing on this important day. I am not going to go into details, I think that is not my responsibility.”

Araujo also shared his thoughts on the upcoming Madrid derby, which could be extremely consequential in the context of the title race.

“We are focused on ourselves, on what lies ahead. There is still a lot of La Liga left and we know how important any game is. We have to take it game by game, adding three points. The other day it was very important to win, I stressed that to the team,” he said.

“We knew it was going to be quite difficult. The objective is clear and it is to win La Liga, there are still a lot of points left and we are really looking forward to doing it,” he added.

Araujo on his fitness and Barcelona’s form

Thanks to Inigo Martinez’s knock, Araujo has become a regular fixture in the Barcelona defence in recent weeks, which is important considering the fact that the player was out for long.

Talking about his fitness, Araujo said, “Good. Happy to be back and be with the team after a long time. We have been training, we always watch videos with the staff. It gives us results and we believe in that. I am feeling good. I am getting more into rhythm.”

Finally, Araujo claimed that Barcelona are prepared to take on the challenges the season has to offer, as they brace themselves for a tough period ahead.

“The team is fine, we have a nice team with talented people and young players. Now is the time for the best and we are convinced of the work we do with the manager. There is no room for error and we have to be prepared. We are fine,” he concluded.
