Back in January, after seriously considering the possibility of leaving FC Barcelona, Araujo made a firm decision: to extend his contract with the club until 2031.
The agreement included a release clause of €65 million valid for this summer, but the Uruguayan centre-back chose not to utilise it to secure an exit.
His determination to remain at Barcelona stayed intact, convinced by the trust shown by the club and by the project led by Hansi Flick.
Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, no surprises are expected in the winter transfer market. Araujo’s intention is clear: to remain at Barcelona not only until the end of the season, but until the conclusion of his contract in 2031.
In fact, if circumstances remain as they are, he would be delighted to finish his professional career at the club that gave him the opportunity to establish himself at the highest level.

Araujo knows that this campaign represented a fresh start after a difficult period with injuries. He has embraced it with the same enthusiasm and commitment as on his first day. His dedication to Barcelona has never been questioned.
The Uruguayan feels fully integrated into the city, supported by the fans, and proud to be part of a squad driven by ambition. Araujo expresses satisfaction in competing for a team that, under Flick, has regained a winning mentality.
Araujo dreams of winning the Champions League with Barcelona. His main goal is to lift the famous trophy. He is also aware that, if he is on the pitch, he would be the one to raise it alongside Marc-Andre ter Stegen, the team’s first captain.
The most recent eliminations from the competition have been particularly painful, especially last season’s defeat in Milan against Inter, when they came so close to reaching the final.
Araujo and the team are determined to move past that disappointment. He wants to be a key player for Barcelona and secure the one European title missing from his record.
Araujo’s greatest wish is to leave a lasting legacy at Barcelona. He feels a strong connection, both in playing style and character, with legendary former captain Carles Puyol.
