With no fit number 9 available, it goes without saying that Hansi Flick may turn to Marcus Rashford to lead the line for the upcoming clash against Olympiacos in the UEFA Champions League.

Regardless of who starts up front, Barcelona have one clear objective, which is to beat Olympiacos and extend their scoring streak in Europe’s top competition.

If Barcelona score against Olympiacos, they will have managed 23 consecutive Champions League games without failing to find the net.

This would be the second-longest streak ever, still short of Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona, who scored in 29 straight matches between November 2009 and March 2012.

The current streak in numbers

Barcelona’s current run of consistency in Europe has been impressive. The last time they failed to score was in a 0-1 defeat against Shakhtar Donetsk in Hamburg on November 7, 2023.

Since then, they have racked up 58 goals in 22 Champions League matches, with a record of 13 wins, three draws, and six defeats.

For Flick and his team, keeping the streak alive is about more than just records.

After the defeat against PSG, it is a chance to regain confidence amid a tricky domestic campaign and demonstrate that, despite injuries and rotation, Barcelona can still dominate in Europe.

For that matter, the match against Olympiacos is the perfect opportunity to do just that.
