Robert Lewandowski once again demonstrated his world-class quality last season, reminding everyone why he remains one of Europe’s most prolific strikers. However, with the Polish forward now 37 years old and approaching the end of his contract, FC Barcelona know they must soon prepare for life after him.
Among the many names linked to the Catalan club, one of the most intriguing is Hoffenheim’s emerging star Fisnik Asllani. The young striker has been one of the revelations of the Bundesliga this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist in his first seven league appearances.
His sharp movement, composure in front of goal, and ability to link play have made him one of the Bundesliga’s standout attacking prospects.
Asllani’s rise has been rapid. After an outstanding campaign in Germany’s second division with SV Elversberg, where he netted 18 goals and supplied nine assists, he returned to Hoffenheim and immediately established himself as a key player.
Born in Berlin but of Kosovar descent, the 23-year-old is under contract with Hoffenheim until 2029, although the report indicates that his deal includes an affordable release clause.
Barcelona’s interest in Asllani is genuine. Deco has identified him as a potential successor to Lewandowski. According to Fichajes, the Catalan club is reportedly preparing an opening offer of around €25 million to bring him to the Camp Nou in the next summer transfer window.
For Barcelona, Asllani represents both a long-term investment and an ideal stylistic fit. His youth and versatility, with the ability to play as a central striker or in wider attacking positions, make him an attractive option for Hansi Flick’s evolving project.
His technical quality and relentless pressing suit Barcelona’s attacking philosophy well, although adapting to the tactical demands of La Liga would still pose an important challenge.
Meanwhile, Hoffenheim face an important decision. The club could choose to keep Asllani as part of their sporting project or capitalize on his current market value with a profitable transfer.
The report also suggests that Hoffenheim would be open to negotiations if an offer close to the release clause arrives, especially if it benefits both parties.
As things stand, Barcelona are watching closely, Hoffenheim are weighing their options, and Fisnik Asllani is focused on maintaining his impressive form. With other European clubs also interested, it remains to be seen whether Asllani will ultimately end up at Barcelona, stay at Hoffenheim, or move elsewhere.
