La Liga champions Barcelona could be afforded what would be an altogether welcome surprise on the personnel front for their upcoming meeting with Athletic Club.

This comes amid confirmation that Pedri has not yet been ruled out of the fixture.

Midfielder Pedri has for his part been sidelined since late last month, after suffering a muscular injury late in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid.

Initially, the expectation was that the 22-year-old would be unavailable for selection for a spell of between four and six weeks.

If the latest word stemming from Catalunya’s capital is anything to go by, however, then Pedri appears to be well ahead of schedule in his recovery.

After it was suggested over recent days that he was targeting an early return against Chelsea next week, as per a report from Diario Sport:

‘Pedri could end up seeing the green light for this weekend.’
