Barcelona defender jokes about disallowed goal vs Real Betis – ‘Need to change the shape of my Preds’ | OneFootball

Jules Kounde was one of the protagonists of Barcelona’s 5-1 demolition of Real Betis in the Copa del Rey last night as he scored the team’s second goal with a stunning finish and dished out a special performance.

He was, however, unlucky to have another beauty of a goal disallowed as offside after a VAR review in the 51st minute.

Images released by the VAR of Kounde offside showed the player marginally ahead of Real Betis’ last man with only the tip of his boot being ahead.

While the decision was indeed right given the accuracy of the technology, Kounde opted to see the light side of the occasion and took to his social media after the game, jovially asking Adidas to modify his shoes.

“Adidas, we might need to change the shape of my preds!,” he wrote on Instagram with an image of his offside.

Needless to say, the player will not read too much into the disallowed goal, especially given that he got his flowers on the night with another golazo and will thus look to prepare for the team’s next game.

Over the past year, Kounde has grown deeply into the role of a right-back and he now has a claim as one of the best in the world in his position.

Given his fitness and track record, he is likely to remain unrotated even for Barcelona’s next game against Getafe.

So far this season, the French defender has racked up one goal and three assists in La Liga and averages 1.1 key passes per game.

At over nine defensive actions per game, he is one of the best defensive full-backs in the league as well.
