Barcelona defender Eric Garcia opened up after the painful Champions League semi-final defeat to Inter Milan, and he did not hide his disappointment.
The centre-back was visibly upset as he spoke about how things went wrong for the team, especially during key moments across both legs.
He pointed to what he believed were unfair decisions by Polish referee Szymon Marciniak. “We all know what happened with this referee last time,” he said, referring to Julian Alvarez’s ‘double touch’ incident against Real Madrid.
According to Garcia, Marciniak once again made calls that worked against Barça, adding to the team’s struggles. “But we must be proud of everything we have done,” he added, trying to stay positive despite the bitter end.
Garcia also felt that luck was not on Barcelona’s side. He mentioned that small details, unfortunate moments, and bad decisions played a huge role in the result.

“It is not a consolation, but football has been very cruel to us. They went 2-0 up, but the character of this team is incredible,” he said.
The Barça man added that the San Siro has not been a lucky ground for him. “I don’t know what’s wrong with this stadium, but the three times I’ve come here, things just haven’t gone our way.”
Despite the heartbreak, the defender made it clear that the team is not broken. In fact, he believes the fightback and the character shown in the second half say a lot about this Barcelona squad.
“Football is like that. We were down 2-0, but we responded and dominated the second half. To score the equaliser in the 93rd minute and still go out is really hard to take,” he admitted.
However, he assured fans that the loss will not carry over into the next big test — El Clasico.
“This won’t affect us for El Clásico. On the contrary, we’re looking at a very positive picture. There are no transitional years at Barça. The team comes out much stronger, and even more so with this fan base,” he concluded.
