Barcelona maintained their 100% start to the new LaLiga campaign with a 2-1 win over Athletic Club.

Lamine Yamal opened the scoring midway through the first half with a sublime long-range strike that Yeray Álvarez deflected in.

The Blaugrana continued to enjoy chances in the opening 45 minutes as Robert Lewandowski later rattled the frame of the goal from a tight angle.

But the visitors were awarded a penalty shortly before the interval when Pau Cubarsí brought down Álex Berenguer, allowing Oihan Sancet to convert.

Leandowski found himself denied by the woodwork again early in the second half as Hansi Flick’s side pushed to reclaim their early advantage.

But it was third time lucky for the Poland international as he swept in a rebound after Álex Padilla parried Pedri’s left-sided cross into his path.

Barça sit second in the table after their opening two games, behind Celta Vigo on goal difference.
