Blaugrana sporting director Deco has already held talks with the St James’ Park star’s representatives during his recent visit to England.
The Newcastle United winger has emerged as a priority target for Barca, and he is reportedly excited by the prospect of a move to Camp Nou.
Newcastle are open to selling Gordon this summer but are holding out for €92 million – a figure that could prove challenging for Barcelona given their financial constraints.
Barcelona’s pursuit is further complicated by their ongoing efforts to secure a permanent deal for Marcus Rashford, whose loan from Manchester United expires this summer.
If that move falls through, Gordon would be an even higher priority, and Deco has shown he is not willing to wait for the market to come to him.
Gordon racked up an impressive 17 goals and five assists in 46 appearances across all competitions during a standout season and is in demand across Europe.
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are leading the race for the former Everton man, but Barcelona’s interest has complicated matters.
Having missed Newcastle’s final four matches this season, Gordon is focused on regaining full fitness ahead of the 2026 World Cup in North America next month.
Newcastle know their ‘world-class’ asset is coveted across Europe, and their asking price reflects his status.
