With Joan Laporta getting re-elected as FC Barcelona president, the sporting department can now carry on with their plans for the summer transfer window without any doubts about director Deco’s future.

As things stand, the Blaugrana have identified the signing of a new centre-forward and a left-footed centre-back as their main priorities before next season.

However, with reports suggesting that the club could be open to offers for Alejandro Balde in the summer, there could be room for a new left-back as well.

Lewis Hall on the radars

In that regard, Caught Offside (h/t Mundo Deportivo) reports that Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall has caught the attention of Barcelona after being observed during several Champions League matches this season, including their head-to-head clashes.

The 21-year-old Englishman earned significant praise for his performance against Barça last week in the Round of 16 first-leg tie at St James’ Park, as he managed to keep Lamine Yamal quiet for most of the game.

And, it appears that the Catalans have taken an interest in the former Chelsea starlet heading into the summer transfer window.

However, Barcelona are not alone to have had their interest piqued by Hall. The Newcastle United starlet’s performances have also attracted attention from several major Premier League teams such as Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Hall is an important player for Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, having racked up 2,738 minutes of action this season in 39 matches, scoring and assisting one goal apiece. He has a contract with the Magpies until 2029.

As mentioned previously, Barcelona’s transfer priorities for next season are focused mainly on strengthening the centre-back and centre-forward positions, although other opportunities could arise depending on the market.

In any case, given Hall’s current status at Newcastle and the interest from several Premier League giants, his market value is expected to be high, which could make any potential transfer operation complicated.
