FC Barcelona are set to have quite a busy summer this year, as they are aiming to reinforce several weak areas in their team ahead of the 2026-27 season, in which winning the UEFA Champions League is a publicly pronounced objective of the team.

Meanwhile, the Catalans would also be looking to complete some exit operations, and are working towards this endeavor with the deadline of 30th June in mind, when the current financial year would end.

One of the players they are trying to offload before this deadline is the midfielder Marc Casado, who is not expected to be a prominent part of Hansi Flick’s plans for the next season. In the last few days, the Spaniard has been linked with a move to several clubs around the world, but the player, despite having agreed to a departure, is yet to make a decision about his next destination.

One club that has been linked with him in these past few days is the Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. However, SPORT cites the Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano to claim that the principality club is not in any agreement or even in advanced negotiations for the Blaugrana midfielder. Thus, the option of Monaco loses strength as the potential next destination for Casado.

There is no doubt that the Ligue 1 side would have been an interesting option for the La Masia graduate, who is looking for a new club that would help him continue with his growth in top-level European football following his departure from Barcelona.

Previously, reports suggested that Atletico Madrid had also rejected him when his agent, Jorge Mendes, offered him to their Director of Football, Mateu Alemany. In such a context, Saudi Arabia still remains a economically alluring destination for Marc Casado, even though it might not be the most compelling from a sporting point of view.
