The midfielder Marc Bernal put in a memorable performance last night in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final against Atletico Madrid, but his brace was still not enough to get FC Barcelona into the final of the competition.

Still, the youngster would go on to remember this night for quite a long time. This was the first time he played the full 90 minutes since his recovery, and as Mundo Deportivo has reported, he also talked to the media after the game.

The midfielder recognized it was a special night for him, but was left unhappy with the elimination:

“I don’t know if I’ve graduated. I did the best I could. It’s one of my first special nights here—shame we didn’t reach the final.”

For the future, the youngster was hopeful that the team could go on to achieve big things:

“I think we played a very good game. That makes me happy, but we didn’t achieve the objective, which was to reach the final. Everything we planned during the week came together. If we keep going like this, with this hunger, I’m sure we can achieve many objectives in the coming years,”

The Spaniard also rued the goal from Pau Cubarsi in the first leg that was ultimately ruled out by the referee:

“We were talking about it in the dressing room. If that goal had stood, it would have been a different story, and maybe we’d be in extra time now.”

The midfielder also acknowledged the support of Grada d’animacion, who made a return to Camp Nou, albeit in another section:

“It was really noticeable. You can feel it a lot from the pitch; it was very special. I’m very proud of the team and the fans.”

Hopefully, Marc Bernal would only take positives from this game, and go on to put in similar incredible performances for Barcelona.
