Barcelona eyeing deal for Neyser Villarreal | OneFootball

The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have set their sights on the signature of one of South American football’s most highly-regarded young talents.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Neyser Villarreal as the player in question.

The name of attacker Villarreal may actually be a familiar one to some of a Barcelona persuasion. This comes with the Colombian starlet having been linked with a move to Catalunya’s capital in the past, too.

Villarreal is a 20-year-old winger who generally operates on the right flank, but is also capable of lining out in a more central striker role.

The youngster has long been considered a potential star in the making in his home country of Colombia, where Villarreal is currently plying his trade with Millonarios.

A departure from Bogotá has long been on the cards, though, with the U20 youth international refusing to commit to an extension to his expiring contract terms.

Atlético Madrid previously reached an agreement over a transfer with their counterparts at Millonarios, only for the player and his entourage to turn the move down.

And as alluded to above, as much could well open the door for another of Spanish football’s leading clubs to step in.

‘Neyser Villarreal is reportedly in the sights of FC Barcelona. According to sources in Colombia, the Blaugrana club is very interested in securing the young striker’s services.’
