Barcelona are reportedly facing a potential exodus with half of the players in their women’s team entering the final year of their contracts, including Alexia Putellas.

According to the club’s website, Barcelona currently have 18 first-team players in their squad.

However, Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo has reported that nine players are out of contract next summer and that some could leave the club this summer.

Fridolina Rolfo, Ellie Roebuck and Ingrid Engen have already left the club for nothing. Roebuck is now at Aston Villa, Engen joined Lyon while Rolfo is still a free agent.

Barcelona’s squad includes a host of players which played for Spain during the Women’s Euros.

Spain were favourites to win the tournament but ultimately lost out on penalties to England in the final.

However, UK betting websites have placed Barcelona as favourites to win Euro 2029.

Which Barcelona players are coming up to the end of their contracts?

Five of the nine Barcelona women’s team players who see their contracts expire next summer played in the Euro 2025 final against England.

Alexia Putellas is the standout name after scoring three goals and providing four assists during the Women’s Euros.

Barcelona will be determined to keep youngsters Salma Paralluelo and Claudia Pina. They are seen as the future of Barcelona but are approaching the final year of their deals.

Paralluelo was one of the three Spain players who missed their penalty during the shootout defeat to England.

Former Manchester United full-back Ona Battle and goalkeeper Cata Coll also played in the final, but will be thinking about their futures as they approach the final years of their contract.

Norway legend Caroline Graham Hansen and Barcelona vice-captain Marta Torrejon are other notable names on the list.

The final players out of contract next summer are defenders Mapi Leon and Jana Fernandez.

When does the rest of the Barcelona team’s contracts expire?

Presently, five first-team players will see their contracts expire at the end of the 2026-27 season.

That list includes Gemma Font, Irene Paredes, Patricia Guijarro, Ewa Pajor and Esmee Brugts.

The contract of Sydney Schertenleib also comes to an end in 2027. She is not listed as a first-team player on Barcelona’s website, however, she is expected to feature this season.

A year later, is when the contracts of Aitana Bonmati, Kika Nazareth and Vicky Lopez are set to expire.

The player who is under the longest contract at Barcelona is Laia Aleixandri, the club’s newest signing from Manchester City.
