Two transfer operations have gained a lot of steam in the last few days that can significantly alter the FC Barcelona attack going into the next season. Firstly, the Catalans were linked with the Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi, and this operation progressed at such a good pace that it is already in its last stages, with a verbal agreement already being reached between all the involved parties.
Secondly, Paris Saint-Germain undertook another offensive for the Blaugrana forward Ferran Torres, and according to some recent reports, are close to reaching an agreement with the player. But before this operation can be completed, the Parisians would also have to negotiate with Barcelona, and according to SPORT, they are looking to give the Catalans a taste of their own medicine.
The Azulgrana club took advantage of the fact that there was only one year left on the contract of Adeyemi to get him on favorable terms from Dortmund. They are reportedly going to pay €22 million fixed and €7 million in variables for the German forward.
As far as Torres is concerned, Barcelona are valuing him at €50 million, especially because of his good goalscoring record in recent years. However, PSG have no intention of paying such a high figure for a player who is in the last year of his contract. Some reports suggested they were going to put in an offer of €40 million for the forward, but their offer is going to be lower than this sum.
Luis Enrique’s contact with the Spaniard was key in influencing him to open up to the idea of leaving the Blaugrana club and joining the Parisians. Now, they believe if he asks the Catalan club for a departure, they would have the upper hand in negotiations. For now, they are in no hurry, and are waiting for the player to end his World Cup campaign to reach a final agreement with him.
Thus, the next week would be crucial, as Ferran Torres fears that he would lose further prominence at Barcelona with new signings, and PSG are offering him more importance in a very attractive project.
