Barcelona fans call for one player to be benched after Atlético defeat | OneFootball

Fans of La Liga giants Barcelona have on Saturday evening collectively called for one member of the club’s first-choice XI to be dropped.

The player in question? Robert Lewandowski.

Barcelona, of course, marked their return to action a short time ago.

In desperate search of a return to winning ways, Hansi Flick’s troops welcomed Atlético Madrid to Catalunya’s capital, for a top-of-the-table showdown.

The aforementioned Robert Lewandowski, for his part, featured from the off in the clash, from his customary berth at centre-forward.

After Barca found themselves condemned to the wrong side of a 2-1 result, however, the veteran goalscorer has since been heavily criticised.

Lewandowski struggled badly in his efforts to conjure up a positive contribution against Atléti, struggling in his finishing and link-up play alike.

In turn, calls have mounted for the Polish international to be benched by head coach Hansi Flick following the turn of the year.
