Barcelona kept hopes of a top-eight finish in the Champions League alive after securing a 4-2 win over Slavia Praha this midweek.

While all the attention was on Fermin Lopez and Robert Lewandowski for their goals, Marcus Rashford also raised some eyebrows late on, notably providing a sublime assist for Lewandowski’s goal in the 70th minute.

Thanks to the goal, Rashford is now officially enjoying his best-ever Champions League season.

A season to remember?

The 28-year-old winger, currently on loan from Manchester United, is indeed posting the best numbers of his career in Europe’s elite competition.

With his latest assist in Prague, the Englishman has now been directly involved in 7 of Barcelona’s 18 goals in the tournament.

This output is remarkable, rivalling his prolific 2020-2021 campaign, where he netted six goals and provided one assist. However, his influence this season has been arguably more consistent across playmaking and scoring.

Rashford has proven to be a key weapon in Barça’s European attack from day one. His campaign highlights include a memorable Man of the Match performance against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, where he scored a brace to secure victory.

He followed that up with another complete performance against Olympiacos, scoring twice and winning a penalty.

Beyond goals, he has been an effective playmaker, providing crucial assists against top-tier opposition like PSG and Eintracht Frankfurt prior to this week’s contribution.

These impressive European statistics contrast sharply with his recent playing time. Rashford has started just two of the last six matches played in 2026.

His solid output despite limited game time has led many to think that Barcelona will retain his services permanently by triggering the buyout clause in the summer.
