Marcus Rashford’s loan at Barcelona has generated mixed reactions from the club’s faithful and officials.
It is undeniable that his impact on the team has been stunning and the numbers add up, giving Barcelona good reason to consider his continuity.
What hinders it, however, is Barcelona’s economic situation and the €30 million trigger which lead some to believe that his adaptation to the club’s ways and wayward decision making may be a deal breaker at that price point.
As relayed by AS in a recent report, Rashford’s continued successes at the club are making it more difficult for Barcelona to reject the idea of his continuity and he took yet another step in that direction earlier this week when he started against Guadalajara.
Placed as the number 9 in the Copa del Rey opener, Rashford scored in the penultimate minute of the game with a stunning finish and could well have had a hat-trick had it not been for some great saves by the goalkeeper.

The Englishman’s goal against Guadalajara makes him the only Barcelona player to have scored in all three competitions this season. He has one in the cup, two in the league and four in the UEFA Champions League, totalling seven goals so far this season.
Adding to that, his eleven assists across all competitions and Rashford is truly one of Barcelona’s highest yielding attackers. To consider his move a failure, thus, is not even comprehensible.
It is clear that Flick appreciates the player’s versatility, for he has used him as a winger and a striker this season, and it remains to be seen if the manager pushes for the deal through from his end as well.
From Rashford’s perspective, however, it appears clear as daylight that he hopes to stay. After all, he has adapted wonderfully to the city and culture and is embracing his new lease of life under Flick.
