The arrival of Hansi Flick at FC Barcelona has brought the Polish striker Robert Lewandowski once again back to his best form. The veteran forward has been one of the key players for this Blaugrana side this season and has already scored 35 goals in 40 appearances so far.
Meanwhile, his performances for his Polish national team, with which he is currently training, also seem to be improving, as he ended his three-game streak without a goal in the last game against Lithuania, in which he scored the match’s only goal.
This proved to be a crucial goal for the Poles as it gave them a victory over one of the weakest sides they are going to face in their quest to qualify for the World Cup next year.
However, as SPORT has reported, Lewandowski was not able to contribute much after this goal, as only a few minutes later, he felt some discomfort in his right calf and asked for a substitution. Thus, he is a doubt for the next game for his national side.
Fortunately, the Polish national team coach, Michal Probierz, calmed any concerns of the fans after the game, as he provided an update on the Barcelona striker’s fitness. The coach ensured that he was not suffering from anything serious:
“Lewandowski had a minor injury. But it’s nothing serious, and I think he’ll be able to play the next match. This is nothing new, and he should be congratulated for showing up at the training ground and doing everything he can to rebuild the team and be a strong point for the national team.”
Meanwhile, the Pole himself assured the fans about his fitness:
“I’ve had some issues for three matches, but today was better. In the end, it was better to let it go so that nothing got worse. I think everything should be fine. I hope it’s not a big problem.”
Hopefully, this will be the case, as Lewandowski is a key player for both the Polish national team and Barcelona, and missing him at such a crucial point of the season can end up derailing all the good work the Blaugranes have done this season up to now.
