Marc-André ter Stegen does not feature in the plans of La Liga champions Barcelona for the 2026/27 campaign.

But the German’s situation nevertheless remains something of a headache for the Blaugrana.

Goalkeeper Ter Stegen was of course farmed out on loan this past January, linking up with Barca’s Catalan rivals Girona for the 2nd half of the campaign.

A serious injury suffered early in his stint at the Montilivi, however, spoiled the move for both parties entirely.

Ter Stegen has for his part remained hopeful of working his way back into the plans of fellow countryman Hansi Flick at the Spotify Camp Nou.

But according to The Athletic, that ship has already very much sailed:

‘Ter Stegen is not in Flick’s plans for next season,’ it is assured.

With two years remaining on his contract, the Barcelona hierarchy will therefore be desperate for a new suitor to emerge for their out-of-favour shot-stopper in the summer.
