FC Barcelona booked their place in the finals of the 2025/26 Spanish Super Cup after securing a dominant 5-0 victory over Athletic Club on Wednesday.
The Blaugrana were unstoppable from the get-go in Jeddah and ended up scoring all five goals before half-time, with Ferran Torres, Fermin Lopez, Roony Bardghji, and Raphinha finding the back of the net.
Speaking in an interview (h/t AS), former Barcelona forward and club icon David Villa has heaped praise on Hansi Flick’s team and the way they play.
I was on the plane and couldn’t watch it, but I followed it on the results app. When Barça play at that level, they’re a steamroller, no matter who they’re playing against,” said Villa.
“And with my past as a Barça fan, and still being a Barça fan, I’m happy to see them like that,” he added.

The former Spanish international forward also had words of praise for Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres, who has been in fine form this season and has become the club’s preferred starter in the No. 9 position.
“I think he’s doing very well. He’s a fantastic lad who has been doing a tremendous job for a long time. And that’s very important in football, especially in the final third of the pitch,” said Villa.
“I’m happy for him, for how he’s developing at Barça and with the national team, and I hope he continues like this,” he further added on Torres.
Barcelona will face either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid in the finals of the Spanish Super Cup, set to be played on Sunday night.
