According to Mundo Deportivo, Pedro Porro’s performances for the Spanish national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup have not gone unnoticed at Barcelona.

The Tottenham full-back has caught the attention of both Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco, who have been closely following Spain throughout the tournament in the United States.

Despite the admiration, however, a move to Camp Nou appears highly unlikely after the defender recently committed his future to Spurs with a new long-term contract.

Standout performances for Spain

Porro has been one of Spain’s standout performers during the competition.

Deco watched him in person during the knockout victories over Portugal and Belgium, while Laporta was in attendance for the semi-final against France, where the right-back found the net. Earlier in the tournament, he had also scored against Austria in the Round of 16.

The Tottenham right-back’s displays have combined defensive reliability with attacking quality, while his growing understanding with Lamine Yamal on the right flank has become one of Spain’s biggest strengths.

Those performances have significantly increased his reputation, with many considering him among the best full-backs at the tournament. His displays have also caught the attention of those at Barcelona.

Tottenham have secured Porro’s future

However, Tottenham anticipated growing interest in the Spain international and acted before the latter stages of the World Cup.

The Premier League club extended Porro’s contract until 2031, with the option of an additional year. His previous deal had been due to expire in 2028, but the new agreement also places him among the club’s highest earners.

The renewal makes any potential transfer extremely difficult, particularly given the financial investment that would now be required.

Barcelona’s priorities Lie elsewhere

Although Porro is admired internally, Barcelona are not actively searching for a right-back this summer.

Hansi Flick already has Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia and young options such as Xavi Espart and Hector Fort available for that position.

Instead, the club’s priority remains strengthening the left side of the defence by completing the signing of Joao Cancelo from Al Hilal.

For now, Porro’s partnership with Lamine may continue to flourish with Spain, but recreating that combination at Barcelona is not considered a realistic possibility.
