Those in a position of power at La Liga giants Barcelona are not currently interested in a summer reunion with ex-midfielder Thiago Alcântara.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Friday provided an insight into the situation.

The name of one-time Blaugrana standout Thiago has reemerged as a prominent one in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last 24 hours.

This comes after reports were forthcoming in the media, assuring that the Spaniard was all set to link back up with Hansi Flick and his coaching staff.

Thiago afforded a helping hand to Barca’s headmaster upon his arrival last summer, and played an important role in Flick’s settling-in process.

As alluded to above, however, if the latest update on the situation to have surfaced on Friday is anything to go by, then Flick does not appear to be overly interested in a Thiago reunion over the weeks ahead.

As per a report from MD:

‘The 34-year-old former Barça youth player would like to continue working with the Blaugrana team, but on a part-time basis, without being fully involved in the training and travel dynamics throughout the season. For this reason, the club is not considering his incorporation.’

Hansi Flick, it is added, has to date not requested a return for Thiago.
