Joshua Kimmich, for long, has been linked with a move to FC Barcelona, especially given his contract situation at Bayern Munich.
The 30-year-old German international was a key target for the club when Xavi Hernandez was in charge and the interest was carried forward, even if briefly, once Hansi Flick took over the reins.
The fact that his contract with the Bavarians expired at the end of the season and he was dilly-dallying on penning a new deal only fueled the speculations.
However, of late, talks of a Barcelona move for Kimmich had gone quiet, with Flick & co. understood to be happy with their current options in midfield.
Now, Fabrizio Romano reports that Kimmich is all set to renew his contract with Bayern Munich, with renewal talks now understood to be in the final stages.

The German midfielder had been taking his time to assess all possible options before making a decision on his future.
However, Barcelona and Real Madrid, two clubs who have been credited with an interest in the 30-year-old, cooled off the interest, potentially prompting Kimmich to move ahead with renewal talks with the Bundesliga heavyweights.
Barcelona, for their part, are content with their midfield department, where Flick has a plethora of options in Pedri, Marc Casado, Frenkie de Jong, and Gavi, while Marc Bernal will be back from injury next season.
As such, the Blaugrana had taken a backseat in the pursuit of Kimmich in recent weeks and with his renewal now close to being completed, any talk of a summer move can be put to rest for good.
