Following a slow start to life at his new club, Barcelona loanee Ansu Fati appears to have hit his stride at AS Monaco.
The Spanish forward had to wait for some time to make his first appearance for the Principality outfit after joining them on loan from Barça, but he has hit the ground running since.
On his debut, in the Champions League clash vs Club Brugge, Fati found the net with an unstoppable left-footed strike, albeit in a losing cause.
In his second match, against Metz in Ligue 1, he scored a superb brace after coming on at half-time, once more displaying his sharp eye for goal.
Now, according to SPORT, Ansu has set himself the target of regaining full physical sharpness, putting physical setbacks behind him, and recovering the positive sensations of past seasons.
Internally, he has also set the ambitious goal of reaching 20 goals this season with AS Monaco.
The La Masia graduate needed to regain confidence after a season with very few opportunities at Barcelona last time out.
After all, the 22-year-old starlet played little under Hansi Flick at Barcelona and featured for just 298 minutes across eleven matches. At no point did he enjoy the continuity required to rediscover his best form.
Given his limited role, Ansu and Barcelona decided to part ways temporarily, with the aim of giving the attacker the regular playing time he needed to get back to his best.
Now, AS Monaco’s specific plan for his integration has worked perfectly. Things are looking up for Ansu, with three goals in only two games, which have boosted his confidence and proved that he has never lost his natural instinct in front of goal.
If he maintains this rhythm, the target of 20 goals for the season, will be well within his reach.
