Barcelona’s clash against Osasuna may have been significant for the Blaugrana on the pitch, but it also proved to be a profitable outing for Racing Club.
According to a report from AS, Pablo Torre’s recent outing has triggered a €1 million payment to his former club under the terms of his transfer agreement.
When Barcelona secured Torre’s services, they agreed to pay Racing Club a fixed fee of €5 million, along with an additional €1 million for every 10 official matches the youngster played for at least 45 minutes.
According to the outlet, this agreement is capped at 140 matches, making it a potentially lucrative deal for the lower-division side.
Racing Club had been eagerly monitoring Barcelona’s fixtures, especially Hansi Flick’s decisions regarding Torre’s involvement.
The Copa del Rey match against Barbastro brought them tantalisingly close to a payday, with Torre playing 80 minutes. By then, he was just 45 straight minutes away from triggering his first million-euro bonus.

The Osasuna clash finally delivered Racing Club the jackpot. Despite not starting the match, Torre replaced Frenkie de Jong at half-time and completed the entire second half, thus fulfilling the requirement of playing at least 45 minutes for the game to count.
The terms of the deal between Barcelona and Racing Club specify that La Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions League, and Europa League matches qualify for the bonus payouts.
Competitions such as the Spanish Super Cup, European Super Cup, and Club World Cup are excluded from this agreement.
However, the potential windfall for Racing Club doesn’t end there. Another €1 million could be on the cards if Torre makes his debut for the Spanish national team and plays for at least 45 minutes.
While Torre continues his journey at Barcelona, his progress is undoubtedly being closely watched by his former club. With every meaningful appearance he makes, Racing Club stand to benefit financially.
