According to SPORT, Gavi’s limited playing time in recent weeks has sparked discussions among Barcelona fans, but this was supposed to be the club’s plan all along.
The young midfielder suffered a serious cruciate ligament injury that sidelined him for nearly a year, only making his comeback in October.
Given the severity of his injury, Barcelona planned a gradual reintegration process to ensure he regains full match fitness without unnecessary risks.
Despite some frustration from fans, the reality is that Gavi’s reduced presence on the pitch was never a surprise to the club’s medical staff or coaching team.
From the moment he received medical clearance, he was informed that it would take at least four to five months for him to feel 100% physically and mentally.
That timeline suggests he is now reaching the stage where he can perform at his best once again.

While his playing time has been closely monitored, Gavi has still managed to contribute this season. So far, he has accumulated 917 minutes across 26 matches and scored two goals.
Although he has yet to complete a full 90-minute match, his gradual increase in minutes indicates that Barcelona are preparing him for a more prominent role in the latter part of the season.
It must be noted that Hansi Flick has been vocal about his admiration for Gavi, highlighting his determination and leadership qualities.
In fact, the German manager has even hinted that the midfielder will soon be part of the club’s captaincy group, further underlining his importance to the team.
With the most crucial part of the season approaching, Barcelona’s strategy appears to be paying off. If everything goes according to plan, Gavi will be ready to make a significant impact just when the team needs him most.
